The Heads of School Leadership Collective is a year-long professional community designed to bring Montessori school leaders together for shared learning, trusted mentorship, and meaningful collaboration. With more than 1,300 AMS member schools—each with unique structures, challenges, and opportunities—school leaders often need a space where they can connect with others who truly understand the work. The Leadership Collective provides just that: a place to walk together in service, reflection, and growth.

Leaders are placed into small cohorts made up of schools with similar sizes or structures, each guided by an AMS Ambassador—an experienced Montessori Head of School who facilitates dialogue, connection, and resource-sharing.

Each cohort meets monthly on Zoom for discussion grounded in AMS-developed school leadership toolkits. Conversations focus on real challenges and actionable strategies related to family communication, admissions and enrollment, teaching and learning, and more.

Each cohort has its own private space in AMS Connect, where members can ask questions, share resources, and keep conversations going between sessions.

Montessori school leaders consistently voice the need for deeper support and connection:

I need a national group where I can talk to people who have gone through the same challenges.

I look forward to the diversity of thought outside my state.

The best part of Montessori training was the cohort—the community and friendship. I want that again.

The Leadership Collective was built to meet these needs: a space for honest conversations, practical guidance, and mutual support among leaders who understand the complexity of the work.

  • A trusted peer community of school leaders
  • Practical tools and resources grounded in Montessori best practices
  • Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development
  • A sense of belonging within a national network of Montessori educators
  • Connection to AMS staff and supports throughout the year

Whether you seek new strategies, a sounding board, or a place to reflect and grow, the Heads of School Leadership Collective offers a supportive, collaborative community to help you lead with clarity, confidence, and connection.

Every member school is assigned an ambassador that reaches out to share zoom links via email. If you have not been contacted by your ambassador, or if the call time isn’t working for your schedule, please reach out to Rachel Cole, Community Engagement Lead, at Rachel.Cole@amshq.org.
