Expanding Our Horizons

No matter where you are on your Montessori journey, whether you have just earned your credential or have been an educator for decades, continuous growth is a critical goal. Each piece is drawn from AMS’s wide-ranging publications program, which encompasses a quarterly magazine, a research journal, a blog, webinars, periodic special publications, numerous print and online resources for school members and AMS-affiliated teacher education programs, and much more. One of AMS’s goals is to provide high-quality content for you, our members, based on research, community, and learned experiences. AMS recognizes that an understanding of racism and bias varies across individuals, and engaging in transformational change requires courage, trust, empathy, and understanding. As we continue to interrogate ourselves and eradicate all forms of racism and systemic oppression within our organization, schools, programs, and practices, AMS is pleased to offer a special publication designed to aid you in your continued transformation and professional development.

Equity Examined is both a series of essays and an assessment tool designed to help schools and teacher education programs measure and understand the current state of DEI within their organizations. In working through this publication, you will recognize strengths, identify areas for improvement, and gain valuable insight to help you prioritize and implement meaningful change. This publication and equity audit tool was created for Montessori schools and teacher education programs.
