In every Montessori community, our work rests on trust: children explore freely because the adults around them have quietly designed a world that holds them well. Preparedness is part of that promise. It is the unseen architecture that keeps learning luminous, even when life becomes unpredictable.

That’s why the American Montessori Society (AMS) takes great pride in our nine‑year partnership with Adennill, a specialized consulting firm dedicated to strengthening preparedness, safety, and security. Through this partnership, Adennill provides complimentary resources and guidance to help school leaders plan with clarity and respond with confidence—bringing together emergency response planning, crisis management, preparedness assessments, and training workshops to support the whole school family.

Through AMS sponsorship, member schools have access to a set of complementary services designed to remove friction and accelerate readiness. The three most-used offerings include:

  1. Preparedness Self-Assessment
A practical starting point to gauge your current level of readiness, surface gaps, and prioritize next steps—without guesswork.

  2. Crisis STOP
A crisis management support tool that helps leaders slow the moment down, stabilize communication, and make disciplined decisions when the stakes are high.

  3. Emergency Plans Review
A professional review of your emergency plans to strengthen alignment, completeness, and usability—so the plan works in real time, not just on paper.

In addition, Adennill offers low-cost services frequently selected by schools seeking deeper, on-site support:

  • Site Security Assessment
  • Preparedness Coach

In a crisis, leadership is about speaking and acting quickly, visibly, and with impact. Adennill’s nine years of hands-on work with AMS member schools confirm a simple truth: the words you choose, the decisions you make, and the actions you take can have a significant impact.

Start here are a few “quick wins” to put into motion right away:

  • Standardize your first 5 minutes. Define who initiates, who communicates, and who documents, before you ever need it.
  • Create message-ready language. Draft short, calm, family-centered statements now so you’re not writing from scratch under pressure.
  • Pressure-test your plan for usability. If a plan can’t be followed quickly, it won’t be followed. Aim for clarity, roles, and checklists that work in real life.

The most important thing to remember is that you’re not alone in this. Adennill is always here to support AMS member school leaders whenever situations come up or planning needs to adapt. We’re in this together!

All partnership materials and service access points are available through the AMS Member Portal.

If you’re uncertain where to start, begin with the Preparedness Self-Assessment, which provides a straightforward entry point and immediate insight.
