AMS Board Votes to Pause Elections for One Year

November 16, 2020

Dear Members of the American Montessori Society,

Earlier this fall, after extensive deliberation, the AMS Board of Directors voted to pause elections for new board members for one year. This means there will be no voting in early 2021. The current roster of AMS board directors and officers will continue through July 2022.

The decision to pause elections was informed by several factors, including the fact that AMS has experienced considerable transition in leadership over the past year, and stability, rather than additional change, will better support the organization over the coming months.

Creating and sustaining a healthy AMS Board of Directors is a priority for the Directorship Committee. The pausing of elections for one year is giving us the time to focus on this effort.

Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Anita Hanks
Chair of the AMS Directorship Committee

Amira D. Mogaji
President of the AMS Board of Directors

P.S. Elections for the AMS Board of Directors will resume in early 2022. As always, we look forward to your participation.
