The Hockessin Montessori School

The Hockessin Montessori School serves children from Toddler through Middle School, providing families with a Montessori educational experience that can grow with their child. Our programs include Toddler, Children’s House, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School.

HMS offers an authentic Montessori education centered on hands-on learning, independence, curiosity, and respect for each child’s individual development. Students learn in thoughtfully prepared environments where they can explore concepts deeply, work at an appropriate pace, and develop both academic skills and confidence as learners.

Students have extended periods of uninterrupted work that allow them to choose purposeful activities, receive individual or small-group lessons, collaborate with classmates, and develop concentration and independence. Depending on the program, the day also includes opportunities for outdoor learning, enrichment, creative expression, movement, and community activities.
