Keynote Address: Jill Buban

Jill Buban, PhD, is an online learning research specialist with many years of expertise in the higher education, nonprofit, and for-profit sectors. As chief academic officer of Unizin, she’s focused on providing resources for a consortium of higher education institutions who are inevitably adapting to the ever-changing digital and learning landscape. Previously at the Online Learning Consortium, she worked on key strategic leadership initiatives for digital learning leaders and oversaw the organization’s peer-reviewed journal, Online Learning, for which she continues to serve as a special issue editor.

Through her tenure at OLC, Buban served on many advisory boards and continues to do so today. She was a regular contributor to the Presidents’ Forum, and she collaborated with organizations such as EDUCAUSE, WCET, NC-SARA, and Quality Matters, on topics related to the distance learning field and promoting student and faculty success. Buban has also held relevant leadership positions at Post University and SUNY Empire State College.

Buban has received several awards for her accomplishments including: the 2017 Class of OLC Fellows, the Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty achievement (2014), Emerging Scholar for the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (2012), and Best-in-Track Award from Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning (2011).
