AMS Community Engagement
& Action Committee

The mission of this new committee is to inspire AMS members to be deeply engaged, heard, and involved in social justice, peace advocacy, inclusion, global citizenship, humanitarianism, and environmental stewardship at the local, national, and international levels. Through our leadership and community action, this committee will advance the AMS mission of realizing Dr. Montessori’s vision of cultivating a more peaceful and just world.

The Community Engagement & Action Committee (CEAC) provides strategic oversight and guidance to its subcommittees. The committee is responsible for approving new affinity group applications, reviewing scholarship and grant submissions, and ensuring that subcommittee initiatives align with the broader mission and values of AMS.

Subcommittees carry out the core work of CEAC by organizing impactful programs and initiatives throughout the year. They plan the annual Day of Service, lead school-centered projects such as Montessori Education Week and the student art exhibit at The Montessori Event, and coordinate efforts that support both humanitarian and environmental causes. These groups are also charged with fostering meaningful member engagement and participation across the AMS community.

Subcommittees include:
AMS Member Connection
Humanitarian Work
School Centered Projects
Peace Advocacy

Our Mission
The Community Engagement & Action Committee (CEAC) brings members together by connecting our community through service activities, affinity groups, and school-centered projects. It encourages member participation through subcommittees that offer opportunities for meaningful collaboration, leadership development, and collective action in support of equity, inclusion, and Montessori values.

Getting involved with the Community Engagement & Action Committee (CEAC) is a chance to deepen your connection to AMS, collaborate with like-minded Montessorians, and most importantly, give back to the community you’re committed to serving. Whether through advocacy, service, or shared learning, CEAC empowers you to help shape the future of AMS.

We’re always looking for members to contribute to CEAC’s subcommittees. Getting started is simple, just complete the volunteer interest form. After you submit the form, someone will reach out with details about the next meeting for the subcommittee you’re interested in. Most subcommittees meet once per month.

Full committee membership is more limited—CEAC has just 10 full committee members at a time. These positions are filled as vacancies arise through an application process and are selected by the committee. Selection is based on several factors, with a focus on ensuring a broad representation of skills, experiences, and perspectives that reflect the diversity of the AMS membership.
