The AMS Montessori Research Studio (MARS) empowers educators and leaders to engage in action research that directly impacts practice. Over the course of two years, participants design and conduct research projects that address real-world challenges, generate new insights, and expand the body of knowledge in Montessori education.
This is a pivotal time for Montessori education, and the Research Studio fosters a collaborative community of practitioner-researchers committed to designing solutions, deepening practice, and contributing scholarship that will guide Montessori education into the future.

MARS is designed for Montessori educators and leaders who want to investigate authentic challenges within their classrooms, schools, or programs. Participants will develop and conduct a rigorous action research study that generates practical knowledge for their local context and the broader Montessori field. - Grow as a Practitioner-Researcher

MARS studies are designed to extend beyond a single classroom or school. Participants will generate evidence that can deepen Montessori scholarship, inform future inquiry, and help the field respond thoughtfully to emerging educational challenges.

Program Structure
- Duration: 2 years
- Format: Blended—live virtual research seminars, asynchronous learning, individual advising, peer collaboration, and field-based inquiry
- Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per month, with additional time during active data-collection and analysis periods
- Research Support: Advising, methodology coaching, data analysis, and writing consultation
- Collaborative Teams: Cross-role design groups
- Research Pods: Small peer groups that provide collaboration, accountability, and peer feedback
- Study Implementation: Participants design, conduct, analyze, and document an approved action research study
- Dissemination: Present findings through an AMS showcase, conference session, or publication
- Recognition: AMS Certificate and digital credential upon successful completion
