Balancing the dual curricula of Montessori and standards-based instruction results in challenges and successes, but some teachers in a short time felt they were able to effectively balance the 2 curricular mandates.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Normalization Checklist. This author presents reflections on her experiences of change agentry, specifically through her work in 4 small Elementary schools.

In addition to investigating how Montessori educators in a public school setting address the pluralistic nature of their students’ cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds, this author outlines a plan of action to address challenges and improve pedagogy in light of these findings.

The running record is an observational-based literacy assessment protocol that changed this author's beliefs and attitudes about literacy learning and how she taught and assessed literacy.
