AMS to Award Registration & Travel Grants for The Montessori Event 2020

OCTOBER 24, 2019—AMS will award a limited number of registration and travel grants for The Montessori Event 2020. AMS is committed to diversity within the Montessori community. We encourage applications from global AMS members, people of color, LGBTQ people, and other marginalized communities.

Registration and travel grants are valued at $2,300 and include:

  • The Montessori Event full registration* (March 12 – 15, 2020)
  • Up to a 3-night hotel stay
  • $500 travel stipend

*ticketed events must be purchased separately by the registrant

Registration grants are valued at $505 and include:

  • The Montessori Event full registration* (March 12 – 15, 2020)

*ticketed events must be purchased separately by the registrant

Eligibility

  • Current AMS member
  • Has no other organizational financial support to attend The Montessori Event
  • Has not attended The Montessori Event in the past 3 years (The Montessori Event 2019, AMS Annual Conference 2018, AMS Annual Conference 2017)

Timeline

  • November 1, 2019: Application period opens
  • November 30, 2019: Application submission deadline
  • January 3, 2020: AMS notifies grant recipients

Selection Criteria

All applications submitted by November 30, 2019 will be reviewed by The Event Registration and Travel Grant Review Committee. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need and a demonstration of eagerness to learn and apply skills and knowledge gained to benefit their careers, organizations, and communities.

Expectations of Grant Recipients

Recipients will be expected to maintain a current AMS membership through June 30, 2019. They must be willing to sign a release form so they can be featured in Event promotions, such as live appearances on stage, press and video interviews, and sessions with sponsors and AMS Board members. Grant recipients may also be expected to provide a follow-up interview with AMS to discuss their experiences and share what they learned.

  • A statement of support from a supervisor or colleague*

*Statement may be completed by a co-worker, current or former supervisor, professor, or other professional contact. Statements from family members will not be accepted.
