In Memoriam: Sister Barbara Jean Ciszek (1946 – 2015)

May 29, 2015. Sister Barbara Jean (Bee Jay) Ciszek, 70, a longtime member of the AMS and broader Montessori communities, died Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Bee Jay, as she was familiarly known, had a career in Montessori that spanned 35 years. Considered expert in the language and aesthetic development of the Montessori child and adult, she was founder and principal of Cardinal Bernardin Early Childhood Center in Chicago, IL, and a lecturer for the Early Childhood Education program at Seton Montessori Institute. She was also member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of LaGrange, and recognized for 50 years of devotion to religious life.

Visitation will take place Sunday, May 31, 3:00 – 9:00 p.m., at The Congregation of St. Joseph Chapel, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., LaGrange Park, IL. A Prayer of Remembrance Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow Mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. Please contact them if you need further information,

Bee Jay was a vital member of the Montessori community, passionate about serving the needs of children, and always filled with good cheer and wisdom. She will be missed.
