The AMS 1870 Society

The 1870 Society is a giving community that supports AMS’s long-term growth and stability through gifts of estate planning and direct donations. The group was named to commemorate the year of Dr. Maria Montessori’s birth.

1870 Society members make a non-binding bequest to the American Montessori Society for a percentage of their estate once the estate is settled. Members only need to provide written confirmation of the agreement and are at liberty to dissolve or amend it at any time.

Marie Dugan

FORMER AMS INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND BOARD PRESIDENT

The American Montessori Society has been a cornerstone of my life for over 50 years—Dr. Nancy McCormick Rambusch, the founder of AMS, was my first Montessori teacher, mentor, and colleague! I am proud to be a member of the 1870 Society because I want to see AMS continue to thrive as we move forward.
