International Attendees

AMS welcomes attendees from around the world to the 2017 Annual Conference in San Diego, CA!


Follow the link on the registration page to register. If you are applying for a visa, you may register before your visa has been approved. If you register and then find out that your visa is denied, AMS will provide a full refund on your registration.

Language Interpretation

We are pleased to offer simultaneous Mandarin interpretation for the 3 keynote addresses and several workshops. To purchase this option, select Mandarin on the “Add-On Events” page of the conference registration form. You will be contacted prior to the conference with instructions about when and where you can pick up your headset device. For more information, contact Jennifer Demel.

Note: The service fee for this service is $30/attendee.


The Visa Waiver Program enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the U.S. for stays of 90 days or less without needing a visa, providing they meet specified requirements. You can read the details here.

For those who do need a visa, we recommend beginning the visa request process 3 – 4 months before the conference. To request an invitation letter from AMS, e-mail the following information to for each prospective attendee who needs a visa in order to attend:

  • Name of the attendee (as it appears on the passport or government-issued ID)
  • Name of attendee’s school or organization and attendee’s title there
  • AMS login ID (if applicable)
  • Nation of citizenship and passport number
  • The address of the U.S. consulate office to which you will be presenting the letter

Within 5 business days of receiving your request, we will e-mail you a letter of invitation that you may deliver to the appropriate consulate.
