Coming Up: An Invigorating Year of Professional Development
SEPTEMBER 18, 2020 (Updated from July 15, 2020)—The universe is in a state of constant motion—and so are we. As we continue to navigate the uncertainties of the pandemic, and with the wellbeing of our community at the forefront of our minds, we have reconfigured our professional development events to be fully virtual. We are enthused about the opportunities they afford for professional development that is not only more accessible, but also more affordable, and look forward to having you join us.

Thursday, August 27, 8:00 PM – 8:45 PM (ET)
Join us for this free event, where we will listen to the voices of Black Montessori educators, honor their contributions to our community, share resources and projects surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion, and identify and articulate our shared values. Registration is required.
Saturday, October 17
Ideal for Montessori teachers with 1 – 10 years of classroom experience, and led by experts in Infant & Toddler education, this symposium will present a thorough review of core Montessori philosophy for our youngest students (birth through age 3). You will ruminate on Dr. Montessori’s teachings, have long-form discussions, and learn from facilitators who will challenge you to reflect on and improve your classroom practices. There will be a forum where you can share best practices and learn from your peers.
Saturday, October 24
This event invites teacher educators and program directors to come together to discuss intentionality in bringing people of diverse races and backgrounds into the Montessori profession.
Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7
This symposium will provide Montessori Middle and High School teachers with a rich lineup of professional development, specifically tailored to their needs and interests. Because of the depth and breadth of the information being offered in this symposium, we will not be presenting Secondary offerings at The Montessori Event this year. The symposium will give Secondary educators an opportunity to network, grow, and explore the topics most relevant to them.
Sunday, November 8 – Saturday, November 14
Join AMS and Mon’s Education Institute for a virtual Montessori conference designed for members of our community whose primary language is Mandarin. Montessori Beyond Borders focuses on overcoming distance to dissolve the bias and barriers in education with the goal of creating a more connected and engaged future. The conference includes keynote speeches and the sharing of education pedagogy and philosophy.
AMS Literacy Symposium
Friday and Saturday, January 22 and 23
Attendees will take a deep dive into reading, literature, and literacy — an area of specific need for professional development in Montessori education. There will be opportunities for your students to showcase their writing and style. More details to come.
Thursday, March 4
Our annual opportunity for administrators of AMS-affiliated teacher education programs to come together for professional growth and community.
The Montessori Event 2021: Virtual
Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6
Accessible and affordable, and with the same quality of workshops and speakers you’ve come to know and expect, The Montessori Event will continue to be the conference that brings the Montessori community together to learn, grow, and celebrate. You will have opportunities to network and share your successes, while learning from Montessori experts and inspiring keynote speakers. Please join us for The Montessori Event 2021, now fully virtual.
The Arc Summit: Empowering Social Change in Montessori
Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5
The Arc Summit is a pay-what-you-wish opportunity to join the discussion on diversity in our community. We will share resources to help you do the work of creating equitable and inclusive spaces in Montessori.
