Imagine a format for classroom observation that delineates all the things that define their health—social interactions, work choices, independence, classroom management techniques, etc.—using language that is easily understood, and which reflects the philosophy and goals of the greater school community. Does it sound too good to be true? Learn how one school tackled this very challenge, resulting in a Healthy Classroom Checklist—a school-wide acknowledgement of what we should see happening with children in all of our classrooms. You’ll come away with an understanding of how you and your colleagues can work together to create a healthy classroom checklist of your own.

Angie Meadows is head of Clementine Montessori in Philadelphia, PA. She has over 20 years of experience as a Montessori parent, teacher, teacher educator, and school leader. Angie holds AMS Early Childhood and Elementary I credentials. Always eager to learn, she is currently pursuing both an AMS School Administrator credential and an MEd from St. Catherine University.
