AMS Archives

Dodd Center, U of Conn

The American Montessori Society Archives document the professional and administrative history of our organization, from its earliest days to the present. The Archives also include information about the Montessori system of education.

A part of the Archives & Special Collections of the UConn Library in Storrs, CT, the collection (which includes digital assets) is open to the public. Researchers seeking support with travel expenses are invited to apply for a travel grant.

The AMS Archives include:

  • historical AMS articles, papers, and correspondence,
  • information and audio recordings from AMS conferences,
  • recordings of presentations by AMS founder Dr. Nancy McCormick Rambusch and other Montessori “notables,” and
  • materials of individuals closely associated with the early years of AMS education in the U.S.

If you would like to donate an item to the AMS Archives, please contact our Archives Committee: ams@amshq.org
