Résumé

I have been a member of the Teacher Education Section Commission for the past three years. This has afforded me the opportunity to serve as a member of the Teacher Education Action Commission. The work we have done and continue to do through TEAC and for TES is to ensure that there are high quality Montessori Teacher Education Programs operating under the American Montessori Society. We have made great strides in streamlining processes. All of the work we do has the ultimate question of, ‘what is best for the children?’ We have been able to begin the deeper conversations around best practices in Montessori Teacher Education, keeping Montessori as a thriving method of teaching for the future. I hope to be able to continue this work with TES and TEAC for many years to come.

Résumé

I have treasured my involvement in many aspects of Montessori over the last forty years. I have been a classroom teacher, a director of a school and for the last fifteen years, a teacher educator and director of a small teacher education program in Montana. Recently, Montana Montessori Teacher Education Institute has adapted the use of on-line education through a partnership with our local community college. Thus, we have become a hybrid program. This change has allowed me to look differently at what constitutes excellent teacher education instruction in diverse modalities. TEAC has also been looking at these dynamics. I would like the opportunity to continue this work as your member at large to TEAC. I wish to work to promote professionalism and unity among teacher education programs for Montessorians in general. I intend to work to assure that AMS continues to provide a model for quality teacher education throughout the world.
