How to Use AMS ListServers

If you subscribe, here’s how to participate in ListServer discussions, keeping in mind the “dos and don’ts” of online etiquette.

To Send a Message

Once you've subscribed, your e-mail messages to the ListServer will be distributed to everyone on the list.

To Respond

When you subscribe to a ListServer, you will receive all e-mails sent to the list by other participants. If you choose to enter a discussion, you may respond to the entire group or to a single individual.

  • To respond to the entire ListServer, simply use the reply function of your e-mail program.
  • To respond to an individual, either copy and paste or type the person’s e-mail address into the To: field of a new message.

Use Accurate Subject Lines

If you reply to a ListServer e-mail with a message introducing a new topic, we recommend that you change the subject line. Using a subject line that is relevant and clear helps others decide which e-mails they would like to read.

For Support

If you meet the eligibility requirements but are unable to subscribe to a ListServer, please contact:

Abbie Kelly (if you are a director or instructor in an AMS teacher education program, or an adult learner)
Carla Hofland (all others)

If you're having other technical problems with a ListServer, please contact Andrew Hofland, AMS manager of information technology.

Acceptable Use Policy

Subscribers are accountable for their submissions to AMS ListServers. All participants must understand and agree to our acceptable use policy.
