"Mister Rogers & Me" Film Screening
Thursday, March 27 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Come enjoy a free screening of “Mister Rogers & Me”—and make the most of this beautiful day before the conference begins!
Benjamin Wagner first met “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” creator and star, Fred Rogers, at Rogers’ summer home on Nantucket, MA. His mother rented the cottage next door, so Mister Rogers really was his neighbor.
Moved by Rogers’ reflection that “deep and simple is far more essential than shallow and complex,” Benjamin, a senior vice president of news at MTV, was inspired to meet some of the many other individuals whom Rogers affected throughout his life.
This 2012, award-winning documentary chronicles the travels of Benjamin and his brother, Christofer, as they set out to meet some of Mister Rogers’ neighbors and to illuminate the many ways his values can help us lead richer and more fulfilling lives.
From tiny gestures of kindness, expressions of support, and peaceful reflection, Fred Rogers’ spirit is amplified by the many lives he touched. This moving film will inspire you to instill Mister Rogers’ values in your students, your children, and yourself.
On hand for a Q & A following the film will be Benjamin and Christofer, along with Tim Madigan, author of the book I’m Proud of You: My Friendship with Mister Rogers, and one of the neighbors featured in the film. Dane Peters, vice president of AMS, will facilitate.
