Day of Service

Thursday, March 15 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

The AMS Peace Committee, in cooperation with Larkin Street Youth Services and GLIDE Memorial Church, is pleased to invite you to take part in a Day of Service in San Francisco.

Be a bridge to peace education as you learn more about hunger, homelessness, and poverty. It only takes a step, a smile, a handshake, and your time to discover new friends and to give back to the San Francisco community.

Flexibility is the only experience or special skill required. On-site personnel will provide necessary instruction and guidance as you lend a hand of friendship and care to the city’s poor.

In the morning you will participate in a variety of tasks at Larkin Street Youth Services, including sorting donations, preparing meals, gardening, and assembling and distributing care packages.

At GLIDE Memorial Church in the afternoon, you will serve dinner to San Francisco’s poor, hungry, and homeless.

Volunteers will walk from the hotel to both worksites (and back). The entire day's walking is no more than 1.5 miles. Volunteers may choose to take a taxi to or from work sites at their own cost.
