Learn how to bring the “real world” into your Secondary science program using place-based, experiential learning. View student projects and examine standards-based curricula developed around the watersheds and prairies at one Texas school. You’ll leave with tools to uncover the unique features of your community and environment that can be used to support scientific inquiry.

Amanda Stone Norton

Amanda Stone Norton, PhD, is a middle school teacher at Montessori School of Fort Worth, TX, and an award-winning author of children’s books emphasizing the child’s conection to nature. AMS-credentialed (Secondary I – II).

Rachel Cole

Rachel Cole, MEd, is a teacher leader at Audubon Charter School, in New Orleans, LA. AMS-credentialed (Secondary I–II).
