In 2014, the Board of Directors of the American Montessori Society created a Global Task Force to explore how AMS can most effectively support Montessori education internationally. So far several actions have resulted from their work:
- A project with the Chinese Society of Education (see below)
- Translations of select articles from Montessori Life into Mandarin and Spanish
- The offering of simultaneous interpretation, into Mandarin and Korean, of keynote addresses at the AMS 2015 Annual Conference
We will keep you up-to-date with new outreach efforts as they emerge.
AMS & The Chinese Society of Education
In April 2015, AMS signed an agreement with the Chinese Society of Education to help develop Chinese standards of quality Montessori Early Childhood education, based on AMS’s Montessori school accreditation process and standards. We are excited to be working with such an esteemed organization that is interested in the development and proliferation of excellent Montessori Early Childhood programs in China. Supporting the work are 2 teams of education experts: one representing the CSE, and one representing AMS. Heading the AMS team is executive director Richard A. Ungerer. We will provide updates about the work as it develops.
You can learn more about the CSE on their website in Mandarin and English.
